Reports to: Superintendent
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Valid Missouri Principal Certificate
- Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Perform basic computer functions including creating reports as well as utilize more advanced instructional technology such as tablets.
- Anticipate problems and initiate solutions to problems.
Position Summary: Act as the chief administrative officer of their respective school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum, activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and classrooms.
- Supervise all building personnel, directly and/or indirectly.
- Conceptualize the broad goals of the school and plan accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.
- Encourage the use of community resources, cooperate with the community in the use of school facilities, and maintain communication with parents and community members.
- Supervise and evaluate teacher performance in accordance with Board policy.
- Develop, maintain, evaluate, implement, and enhance curricular and extracurricular programs that reflect student achievement and growth in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.
- Promote a positive image of the district within the community.
- Maintain current knowledge in educational trends, teaching/learning theory and practice.
- Read, analyze, and interpret such things as professional journals, government memos, Board policy, and administrative procedures and statutes.
- Lead student management, including the areas of discipline, student attendance, and lunchroom supervision, administering consequences in accordance with Board policy.
- Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner.
- Comply with all school policies.
- Disseminate crisis management procedures to faculty, staff, and students and conduct necessary drills to ensure student and staff safety.
- Assign teachers to classes and other duties in their respective building, subject to review and approval of the Superintendent.
- Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with students, parents, and staff, including open lines of communication.
- Monitor student and building academic achievement and develop and implement changes that continually promote growth.
- Ensure supervision of all activities home and away that involves participating students from their respective building.
- Develop schedules (e.g. master High School schedule or Elementary specials classes).
- Evaluate coaches/sponsors of extra-curricular duties for respective building.
- Ensure fundraising done for the building or for organizations who represent the building is reasonable, legal, and ethical.
- Serve as Curriculum Director and Special Education Director for respective building.
- High School Principal to serve as the district Homeless Coordinator.
- Elementary Principal to serve as the educational liaison for foster care children and ELL Coordinator.

Evaluated by: Superintendent in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy and the District’s model of evaluation.
Terms of Employment: Salary to be established by the Board of Education. 11 month contract with benefits and leave time as defined in Board Policy. School year calendar to be determined by the Board of Education. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States and have passed all background checks conducted by the District.
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in and around a student learning environment and as such may be exposed to childhood diseases. May be required to balance and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions may occur. Workplace is usually moderately quiet but can be noisy at times. May experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. This position frequently requires irregular or extended hours.
