School Bus Driver

  

School Bus Drivers safeguard students during transport to and from school and/or special events, and while loading and unloading from buses. School Bus Drivers regularly check the vehicle to ensure safe operating conditions, and that students are greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile.

 

 

Schedule

  • The Orrick School District is a 4-day school week, but there are regular transportation trips on Monday including Vo-Tech, some pre-school, special route and activity trips that may require working on Monday.
  • Before and after school routes run Tuesday - Thursday

 

 

Job Duties

  • Maintain safe and appropriate behavior of all riders in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies, accidents, etc.)
  • Assists students and other passengers with safe loading and unloading from buses during transport and emergency situations.
  • Perform routine cleaning on both interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. gauge levels, exterior condition, etc.) to meet safety operation standards.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports within requested deadlines. (e.g. field trips reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc.)

 

Requirements

  • Must have a current Missouri Driver’s License, with a clean driving record. 
  • Commercial Driver’s License - Class B (CDL-B) required, with passenger and school bus endorsements,  air brake endorsements also preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check. (DOT physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance)
